Uncover the inspiring journey of Guinness World Record Holder, Aevin Dugas, celebrated for her unrivaled afro, from the latest StyldLife Crown Club webinar, "Table Talk 2.0." We dove deep into what it means to hold such a remarkable record, how it came to be, and the incredible impact it has on empowering others with kinky-coily hair.
Embarking on a natural hair journey is no easy feat. Aevin shares a harrowing tale of a relaxer horror story that resulted in severe hair breakage and scalp damage due to relaxers containing harmful chemicals that cause more harm than good in the long run. This unfortunate experience is all too familiar for many Black women. Aevin opened up about her realization she had been conditioned to believe that undergoing the painful process of chemically straightening her hair was the only way to feel beautiful. With tears streaming down her face as a child during relaxer treatments, she believed it was the sole path to beauty. This sentiment is shared by countless Black women and men who have been led to believe that straight hair is the standard of beauty. In reality, this couldn't be further from the truth.
So, what compelled Aevin to grow her hair to its extraordinary length? The answer is simple: self-love. Through the platform she has built from her world record achievement, Aevin asserts that this journey is not about having a good hair day, but rather about embracing oneself wholeheartedly. As Black women, we have faced societal pressure and judgments, all while having our hair scrutinized. However, Aevin wants to inspire the next generation of young Black girls that their hair is beautiful and they have the power to address the upcoming challenges pertaining to Black culture. "Questioning your beauty should be the least of your concerns as the next generation of young Black women," Aevin shared.
After sharing her empowering message behind self-love and Black hair, Aevin graciously reveals her exclusive secrets and favorite products to help Crown Club members achieve the perfect afro. Want in on these insider tips? Click here to learn more.
